Step by Step Easy Bun Tutorial

I’ve got the step-by-step tutorial to show you an easy 30 second bun! This bun is best achieved for me when my hair is at it’s natural state (straight-to-wavy) or previously curled, otherwise it tends not to hold as well and there is less flexibility when my hair was straightened.

As much of a product junkie as I am, this bun always holds well for me when I need my hair up in a pinch or on the go & in a hurry without product.

If you do have the time, a non-oily oil or light styling cream applied through your hair before, and just a coat or 2 of holding or volume hairspray should last you through your day! Read below for my favorite drugstore products to keep your top knot at top notch!

Step One

Brush it out!

Step Two

Gather hair into a ponytail

Step Three

Wrap your ponytail in a circle

Step Four

Secure bun with a hair tie or band

Step Five

Pull at bun from all sides

Step Six

Keep pulling until your bun is as big as you want it!

A few of my favorite Drugstore Hair Products for Bun and Up Do Styling!

OGX renewing argan oil of morocco (extra penetrating oil for dry & coarse hair)

  * this is my favorite affordable oil! It works best for dry or chemically treated, damaged hair. It is very heavy since dry hair is what it was made for, so you only need a small dab to go a long way!

TIGI Bed Head Headbrush Shine Adrenaline with a Superfine Mist Spray

*A classic at it’s finest! This product is great to spray over your finished bun look to add shine and tame the leftover frizzy fly aways!

Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Hairspray

*I am not a huge Herbal Essence fan on a normal basis, but this is one of their products that I would give a 5/5 stars! Great price, sweet scent, good hold, non-sticky! Just a quick, light coat to the nape of the neck and at the base of your bun should hold your look well!
