What Will You Wear? Valentines Night Out 2015

Whether your idea of valentines day is candy, flowers and a romantic date night at your favorite restaurant, or avoiding the chaos that is often valentines day by staying home and cooking a meal for you and your girl-friends, there is always the question of what you’ll wear on that day! Instead of reaching in you closet for the expected red dress or pink sweater and heart prints, mix it up this year! Valentines is one of my favorite times of the year. Not because of the commercialism, the gifts, or explosion of pink, red, and hearts all over the town, but because my husband and I use this time to remind ourselves to slow down our often busy lives and just simply enjoy each other’s company.

~Head over to my dear friend, Jordan Brittley Henson’s blog at http://www.jordanbrittleyblog.com/ after you have finished exploring this holiday’s outfit picks! Jordan is the absolutely OUTSTANDING photographer behind this shoot! Not to mention coordinator, organizer and creator of all things lovely! A huge shout out to Jordan for all of her hard work and big heart behind this shoot. If you aren’t familiar with her work, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! Head over to her blog for some great photography details, inspiration, advice, and the most stunning images around. Check out her post on our day together for photo details, tips, inspiring words, and for a behind the scenes on the heart behind this shoot.~

This Valentines Day I am opting for something new and a little more unexpected. Check out my ‘Date Night Out’ look and let me know if this inspired you to be creative this February 14th!

A mixed print blouse with different shades of rosy pink, berry, and orange blossom are a great way to ring in Valentines day traditions of pink & red, without wearing it head to toe.

If you’re a “heels-or-die” kind of girl like me, finding an equally comfy and stylish pump is like finding gold! These gray pumps are my absolute favorite heel that I own and they help to kick this outfit up a notch. If you are a flats-lovin gal, a funky printed oxford, or classic nude ballet flat could be just the thing to pull your outfit together!

Let’s talk Trench for a moment. A jacket is almost always a great completer piece to any look, and something classy yet modern like a Trench vest is a really fun alternative to a blazer or jean jacket. These guys have been blowing up all over in the past year especially, and seem to be the big IT item for Spring and year round wear! Find a similar Trench look at Ann Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, or Amazon.com. #trenchtheissue

Think Blush!

Peachy, nude and blush tones are a trendy way to incorporate pink hues into your outfit this Feb. 14th!  Opt for an edgy pendant or chandelier earrings to add a pop of diversity to the look! Add that finishing touch with a polished pink lip and classic bangles.

I hope you feel inspired to try something new this Valentines Day! When you are scanning through your closet this Friday night in hopes of finding the perfect outfit for Saturday, you’ll have the tips to put together pieces that you maybe hadn’t considered before, and maybe feel like you can create a fun, out-of-the-box look that will give you the confidence to own the night!
